How does a cloud based telephone system actually work?
Installation
Because there is no telephone system hardware to install, installation of a cloud based system is much easier to deploy than a traditional phone system, in most cases handsets can be plugged into existing computer sockets, if none are spare, the computer can plug into the phone, using one socket for both devices without degradation for either the phone or computer.
The handsets are then connected to an Ethernet switch which is connected to your broadband router.
The handsets require power, this can be done by either connecting a power lead directly to the phone, or more commonly by using a power over Ethernet (POE) switch.
